About the project...
For and by NYC high schoolers, The Highly Indy Project is an uncensored, multimedia online platform for student voice and opinion, providing content from the political to the personal, addressing issues that impact us both inside and outside of school. The project is not advised or funded by any public or private school faculty, administration, program or organization.
Proof Schubert Reed and Maria Milekhina started The Highly Indy Project in the summer of 2017 after realizing that there was no communal place online for NYC high schoolers to share their ideas and connect with each other without the constraints of school/extra-curricular institutions. This project is like no other -- student-run and student-led -- and aims specifically to provide a channel for teen writers who don't have open magazines and newspapers in their schools to get published. We are here for your voices, and we cannot wait to hear what you have to say.
